Detailed Documentation
This article explores the simulation of the IEEE 802.11a wireless network standard, which enables communication within the 5 GHz frequency band. Through simulation techniques, we can deeply analyze the performance metrics, efficiency characteristics, and potential challenges/limitations of this standard. Our research employs multiple methodologies including computer software-based simulations and laboratory testing protocols. Key implementation aspects involve modeling the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) physical layer using MATLAB/Simulink, where we configure parameters like cyclic prefix length (typically 1/4 of symbol duration) and implement convolutional coding with Viterbi decoding algorithms. The simulation framework includes transmitter-receiver chain components such as scrambling, FEC encoding, interleaving, and constellation mapping (BPSK/QPSK/16-QAM). We believe this research will significantly contribute to wireless networking technologies and practical applications by providing quantitative performance evaluations under various channel conditions.
