In this research study, we conduct simulations of block-type pilot-based channel estimation algorithms for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Our implementation focuses on two primary estimation methods: the Least Squares (LS) algorithm and the Linear Minimum Mean Square Error (LMMSE) algorithm. The LS estimator provides a straightforward approach by minimizing the squared error between received and transmitted pilot signals, while the LMMSE method incorporates statistical channel information to achieve superior estimation accuracy. Through MATLAB simulations, we demonstrate how these algorithms can effectively estimate channel characteristics by processing pilot symbols inserted in block patterns within OFDM frames. The implementation includes key functions for pilot insertion, channel estimation calculation, and performance evaluation using metrics like Mean Square Error (MSE). These advanced estimation techniques enable more accurate channel characterization, ultimately enhancing overall system performance and communication reliability in wireless environments.
