In this paper, we provide a concise introduction to OFDM-UWB systems and develop a simplified baseband transmission model using MATLAB. The implementation includes key components such as QAM modulation, IFFT/FFT operations for orthogonal subcarrier generation, and cyclic prefix insertion. We then analyze the impact of synchronization on system performance, confirming the necessity of synchronization modules. After evaluating existing synchronization algorithms, we select a synchronization sequence-based approach suitable for OFDM-UWB characteristics, which enables simultaneous carrier and frame synchronization. We design a joint synchronization algorithm based on the Schmidl & Cox (S&C) method, implementing it in MATLAB with correlation-based peak detection for timing offset estimation and phase rotation analysis for frequency offset compensation. Experimental results demonstrate that our algorithm effectively reduces bit error rate (BER) and validates its practical effectiveness through Monte Carlo simulations.
