We have successfully implemented two-dimensional Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) in the MATLAB environment, achieving satisfactory results. Two-dimensional EMD is a signal processing technique that decomposes signals into multiple intrinsic mode functions (IMFs), enabling better understanding and analysis of signal characteristics. During implementation, we utilized MATLAB's EMD toolbox and made appropriate modifications and optimizations to achieve more efficient and accurate 2D EMD decomposition. The implementation involved key algorithms such as the sifting process for extracting IMFs and handling boundary conditions in two-dimensional data. Through numerous experiments and parameter adjustments, we successfully achieved 2D EMD decomposition of signals with notable effectiveness. This work provides new approaches and methodologies for signal processing research and shows potential for significant practical applications in various fields including image processing and biomedical signal analysis.
